Meta hosted its first Black Creator Day as a day of inspiration from Black Creators, culture-shifters, and innovators who are creating today for tomorrow. This day was a space for 200+ creatives to come together in recognition and celebration of creators from all different spaces including lifestyle, fashion, tech, fashion, beauty and more! Black Creator Day was a moment to gather as a community to make meaningful connections with others and share inspiration, education and affirmation.

June 2022

I was contacted and selected as one of the eight top Black AR creators from around the world by the team at Meta to be a part of Black Creator Day. For this event, I developed "Barbie 3.0," an augmented reality effect that embodies the theme "Future Ready." Using tools like Blender, Adobe Illustrator, Procreate, and Meta Spark, I created an AR experience triggered by scanning a portrait in the dedicated gallery. This effect represents stepping out of conventional bounds to forge one's path and realize one's dreams.

"Barbie 3.0" was designed to remind users that the future is a canvas for personal definition and innovation. By integrating this unique AR effect with the self-portrait, it encouraged viewers to envision themselves in aspirational, future-ready roles. This project not only showcased my technical and artistic skills but also aligned perfectly with the day’s objective to inspire and affirm the talents of Black creators. I'm very honored to have been surrounded by so many creators and the best in the space!
