Beyoncé – Renaissance

With Renaissance, Beyoncé crafted a world of futurism, dance, and high-energy self-expression, which I translated into immersive AR experiences. I developed a 3D visualization of Reneigh, the album’s unofficial mascot, allowing fans to bring the shimmering horse into their own surroundings. I also created an album visualizer AR effect, transforming Renaissance’s sound into an interactive visual experience that responded to the music’s rhythm and energy. These projects expand the album’s impact beyond audio, using augmented reality and digital storytelling to reimagine how fans connect with Renaissance in new and interactive ways.

To lead up to the release of the Renaissance album, I designed an augmented reality concept on Instagram that brings the beloved disco horse to life. This AR effect allows users to place a life-size replica of Reneigh in their environment and interact with it, and experience the iconic visuals in a new way. Users simply tap to place Reneigh in their surroundings. This filter is inspired by the work of Nicholas Des Jardins for the Renaissance album cover, with creative direction by Andrew Makadsi. AR technology provides an immersive experience, allowing users to engage with elements that might not be feasible in physical reality, thus furthering storytelling through a new creative medium. Additionally, the effect features front-camera accessibility; fitting the user with a white cowboy hat to match the limited edition album cover, and Reneigh behind them.
Following the album's release, I created a TikTok version called “Ren in the Sky,” which places the disco horse in the sky, offering a different perspective and interaction. Both effects performed exceptionally well, reaching global audiences and demonstrating the powerful impact of AR in storytelling and fan engagement.
Following the Renaissance tour, I developed an AR audio visualizer with target tracking, allowing users to unlock an audio visualizer when scanning the Renaissance album cover—whether it’s the original or collector’s edition cover. With this effect, the album cover becomes a portal, starting with storytelling images that lead users into a dynamic visualizer. The visualizer features the iconic Cozy robo-arms and a Heated Loewe fembot that dances to the rhythm of the music, accompanied by lasers that move to the beat. This creates an immersive and engaging visual listening experience. To try it out, users simply align their camera with the cover art. Once the target is scanned, they can start this visual journey. Users can further interact with the effect by tapping to change the color of the fembot’s Loewe outfit, as featured during the tour, as well as the light beams, adding a layer of customization and engagement to the experience.
